You know that feeling when you encounter someone and it’s like you know instantly that you are a few things?  Things like safe, heard, respected and valued?  They are encounters with people who you walk away from feeling important, refreshed and actually human.  There are also some out there who can try to project that, but…might not hit the genuine button all the way but they try and it feels forced.  When it comes to Dice Clark, personally, I could feel the authenticity through the internet.  He’s that powerful, and humble about it.  Hopefully you saw the first time we met.  It was like meeting a twin I never knew I had.  Turns out, my twin kept one little secret at our first meet up.  He’s an author now.  That aura he carry’s.  It’s “The Energy He Leave’s Behind”.  He’s written about it.  Learn more about his book. 

There’s a thing called being an empath.  For some, it’s an intuitive sense in themselves that picks up on the energy of others and can they can tell what the mood is.  It can be a room full of people or even an individual in that room filled with people.  To describe how you know that feeling?  It’s pretty difficult.  Dice had this feeling as a younger man, and it led him to some decisions that were maybe not the best.  Guidance is essential.  Maturity really helps bring empaths into focus.  I have had the same kind of thing, and for me..early on…it was self defeating in the idea that if I fixed everyone else’s problems, mine would iron out too, unfortunately, it doesn’t really work that way.  You have to be able to take care of yourself first before you can take care of another.  It’s the put your mask on first idea, like in an airplane speech.

Earlier days behind him now, Dice has taken his life and made it one of purpose to help the kids in the area who’ve been put in a situation where they are growing up in tough situations.  Parents are working multiple jobs.  Single parent families.  Food insecurity.  Increasing pressure are earlier ages from social media and a million other things most didn’t dream about when “we were young”.  Imagine being 11-13 today?  Coming home to watch “Gilligan’s Island” and Bugs Bunny when we were kids is now coming home to empty cupboards, parents that are probably heading to a second or third job and endless misery on TikTok.  Seeing that, and living through some himself, Dice wants that energy he leaves behind to make a mark.  Thankfully, it happens with minimal effort from him.  He’s a natural.

HIs book – “The Energy You Leave Behind” – “A Detroit story of service, voice, and heart—sharing the values, community work, and lasting impact of Cecil “Dice” Clark.”  Legacy?  He’s going to leave one.  What a gift to get a book about it, from the guy himself before we all age out.  Knowing Dice a little….some self glorification book this will not be.  It’s pretty difficult for people who carry the mission like Dice to brag about self, and that’s a part of the draw.  The constant look for a way to shine the light on someone else…so much more important.  Hey, I just ordered my copy.  Maybe I can get some tips from a real pro!

There will be a book signing and first chance to get it at Chita’s Nefertiti Bar and Lounge on September 15th.  The menu looks fabulous.  The drinks look tempting and the atmosphere looks cozy and warm.  The purpose can’t be beat and you’ll even get to see a live radio show happen as part of the debut.  It’s a podcast, but let’s not kid ourselves….more people listen to those now than radio, so….let’s call it what it is.
